A antique Victorian ironstone loving cup planted with winter flowers and made by E, M & Co, a small Staffordshire pottery with a chinoiserie pattern of pagoda patterns with cherry blossom trees manufactored between the 1860's and 1880's in the Potteries. Hairline crack on the right hand handle.
A loving cup is a double-handled mug commonly used at weddings to celebrate the happy couple’s union and to symbolise the pledge they have made to one another. They are also frequently used at livery companies and City of London banquets as a toast to friendship and fraternity. They were particularly popular during the Victorian times for their sentimental and commemorative value.
