A glorious and very old small footed ironstone tureen with lovely gilt handles (deliciously shabby chic) and a pretty chinoiserie decoration,  planted with a miniature phaleonopsis orchid.

The Mason’s "Jardiniere" pattern is a highly collectible, chinoiserie-style design produced by Mason's between 1800 and 1849. The pattern is characterized by its bold, hand-enamelled, and gilded depictions of floral, garden, and oriental scenes, often featuring an octagonal flower box (the "jardiniere") as a central element.

The Jardiniere pattern is considered one of Mason's earliest, documented in the Guide to Mason's Patent Ironstone Patterns, circa 1813-1848. It was produced shortly after Charles James Mason patented the Mason’s Ironstone formula in 1813.
