Italian handmade vintage half-glazed terracotta cooking pot from Grottaglie in Puglia. This beautiful terracotta casserole dish was made by artisans in the famous city of Grottaglie in the southern Italian region of Puglia. It’s in superb condition and does not appeared to have been used. An excellent example of rustic Pugliese cucina povera that would look great in any traditional or modern decorative scheme. Planted with white miniature daffidols similar to 'Thalia' which once they have finished flowering can be planted outside and the pot used either functionaly or decoratively.
It was sold to me as 19th century - but that is impossible to verify. It does have an old feel to it as it's so beautifully made, and it has the soft glow of Meditteranean fine terracotta which is so attractive.
