A very good late 18th century Georgian pearlware bowl of fluted shape, decorated with underglaze blue prints in a version of the "Royal Lily" pattern. No makers marks. Some wear,  but no restoration.  There is a very small unglazed patch near the rim on the outside - not a chip, just a minor manufacturing flaw very typical of pearlware.

Pearlware is a type of British earthenware developed around 1775–1779, often attributed to Josiah Wedgwood, designed to mimic expensive Chinese porcelain by using a lead glaze with cobalt additives. It is characterized by a "bluish-white" or "pearly" tint, most noticeable where the glaze pools, such as in crevices or on the foot ring. Produced heavily in Staffordshire and other regions from the late 18th to the early 19th century, it was popular for its bright white colour often featuring blue transfer printing, hand-painting, and shell-edged decoration like this bowl.

The 'Royal Lily' pattern is a historic, iconic design by the Worcester porcelain factory (later Royal Worcester), which played a crucial role in establishing the company's reputation and securing a Royal Warrant in the late 18th century. The pattern, originally known as "Blue Lily," was developed during the late 18th century to emulate popular, elegant continental designs, particularly those from Limoges.  The pattern gained immense popularity after King George III and Queen Charlotte visited the Worcester factory in 1788. They ordered a breakfast service in this design, prompting Thomas Flight to rename it "Royal Lily" in honour of Queen Charlotte.
