A beautiful and rare antique ironstone small tureen from Minton & Hollins featuring the Japanese pattern No 6891. This is the original business which became Mintons from 1879. Made in Stoke on Trent, England, the Imari-coloured details are hand painted with cobalt blue, rust red, green, yellow, brown, and pink glazes. The rim is painted brown. The back stamp features an incised “BB” and “New Stone” which dates the piece between 1830 and 1860.

The piece is in good condition although there is wear commensurate with its age of (nearly 190 years old) and there’s a lovely pottery very careful mend to the base which only adds to its charm.

The diameter is approx. 15 cm and 10 cm high.

Planted with a scented new variety of primula called Primula Belarina ‘Maple Syrup’ and bred by Kerley & Co. The double-ruffled flower has an Auriula feel to it, is brand new to the 2023/24 season, long-flowering and perfect for containers. It has a subtle sweet fragrance and is most attractive. You will be able to plant these out into the garden where they will come back again next season as they are herbaceous or semi-evergreen perennials.
