A unmarked Victorian ironstone transfer pattern bowl with pretty Imari-style colours.  The upper rim features an elaborate scalloped shield motif set against a very fine, dotted coral-pink diaper-work pattern and the floral transfer has a large, warm orange peony accented by soft green leaves. Unusually the gold leaf detailing here is used as thick, bright highlighting directly overlapping the solid dark navy blue leaves, a decorative style highly popular in late Victorian everyday ware.
 
The cream-colored body has a classic aged, fine all-over crazing under the glaze, typical of late 19th-century British earthenware. This specific style of blush ivory backgrounds combined with heavy gilding and rich floral shields was a hallmark signature of major late-Victorian potteries like Crown Devon (Fieldings) or Royal Winton (Grimwades).
 
Planted generously with cyclamens in an inner pot with our proprietary compost mix, the cyclamens will flower for weeks and when they have finished flowering can then be planted into the garden. Our potted plants come with carefully researched provenances and detailed plant care instructions. We also offer gift wrap using Cambridge Imprint paper and a handwritten card.
