A Victorian Staffordshire footed fruit compote bowl with rich traditional Imari‑style design with vivid burnt orange, warm ochre, bold black scroll borders and delicate hand‑finished floral sprays. circa 1880–1900. The crisp transfer outline with hand-painted overglaze accents (polychrome enameling) is classic for this specific phase of the Aesthetic Movement's obsession with Anglo-Japanese design styles.
Unmarked apart from hand‑inscribed decorator/batch symbols to base – typical of period production but all features confirm genuine Staffordshire origin. Dark patch is only age‑related staining, original and untouched – nothing removed or altered.
Condition is very good for its age, colours remain bright and unfaded, pattern crisp and complete. No chips, cracks, crazing or repairs of any kind. Only the faintest gentle wear to the outer base rim, commensurate with age. Planted up generously with hyacinths and natural moss with our proprietary compost mix, the hyacinths will flower for weeks with their gorgeous scent and when they have finished flowering can then be planted into the garden. Choice of colours for the hyacinths, please see options.
Our potted plants come with carefully researched provenances and detailed plant care instructions. We also offer gift wrap using Cambridge Imprint paper and a handwritten card.
Packed very carefully with recycled packaging and shipped overnight with Royal Mail Tracked 24 within 5 working days. Please note we do not ship on Thursday and Fridays to avoid boxes sitting in warehouses over the weekend. Please let us know if your plant has a specific deadline.
