A lovely ‘baby’ Amherst Japan footed ironstone bowl in great condition, planted up generously with hyacinths. Choice of colours - white, pink or blue - please state in messages your preference.
This pattern and shape were originally introduced and manufactured by Minton and because the design was so wildly successful, many other Staffordshire potteries such as Mason’s went on to producing near-identical versions during the mid-to-late Victorian era, often unmarked as a result.
It is a classic English adaptation of the Japanese "Imari" style which uses a heavy underglaze cobalt blue transfer print which was then extensively filled in by hand with rich iron-red, orange, green, and ochre enamel tones, finished with a distinctive lustrous ochre or gold-gilded rim. Most examples of this footed shape span from the mid-Victorian period up to circa 1900.
Planted up generously with hyacinths, we offer a choice of colours - white, pink & blue. Please let us know in the message section which colour you’d like, otherwise we always default to white.
Our potted plants come with carefully researched provenances and detailed plant care instructions. We also offer gift wrap using Cambridge Imprint paper and a handwritten card. Packed very carefully with recycled packaging and shipped overnight with Royal Mail Tracked 24 within 5 working days. Please note we do not ship on Thursday and Fridays to avoid boxes sitting in warehouses over the weekend. Please let us know if your plant has a specific deadline.
