A vintage Royal Cauldron bowl in the "Bittersweet" pattern (Pattern #X2500), manufactured in Stoke-on-Trent dating to mid-20th century period c1930s–1950. The popular 'Bittersweet' pattern is a dense, all-over floral pattern heavily influenced by the traditional Imari style, which itself adapted 18th-century Japanese and Chinese export porcelain aesthetics. It is made up of an intricate tapestry of hand-painted, transfer-printed blooms featuring large rust-orange peonies, trailing green tendrils, deep midnight blue/black foliage, and multi-petaled chrysanthemums - with hand-applied gilt gold rim highlights and rim.
