A very large antique ironstone loving cup with pink transferware print with blue handpainted details. The botanical pattern of dog roses with miniature violas looks Victorian Arts & Crafts Movement - so approx 1880-1890's. Has obviously had a very interesting life, but is deliciosly 'shabby chic' and VERY big!  Planted generously with Tete-et Tete miniature daffidols.

A loving cup is a double-handled mug commonly used at weddings to celebrate the happy couple’s union and to symbolise the pledge they have made to one another. They are also frequently used at livery companies and City of London banquets as a toast to friendship and fraternity. They were particularly popular during the Victorian times for their sentimental and commemorative value.
