A handsome, large Furnivals fruit bowl in excellent condition decorated with illustration of the sea, galleons and seagulls - a very nautical piece. The "Furnivals 797 pattern features a detailed, rigged galleon ship decorated with overglaze enamels on a white background on a very  fine eggshell porcelain plate.

It was made by Furnivals in Elder Road Pottery Works, Cobridgea and the piece dates between 1895 and 1912. The ceramic art and the quality of the painting is quite exceptional and this could be attributed to the introduction in about 1865 of a method of crayon drawing and painting on the unglazed surface of earthenware and china, using the drawings made by artists.

This is a good piece in excellent condition - no chips or cracks - just light crazing (shown) commensurate with age.

Planted with indoor jasmine which will flower for weeks with the glorious scents and which can be planted outside in the garden after it has finished flowering. We provide both plant care instructions and  provenance. The potted plant is preferably collected from our barn bit can also be couriered.
