This is the second of these wonderful unmarked bowls we've had and which is very 'Gaudy-like but the seller agreed with me - there's something not Gaudy about the shape and she thought maybe Scottish. It's a really lovely piece - big, solid, folksy, and it's in much better condition than our last one - no chips and cracks, but very faded in the well from use but the gilt is still wonderful.
 
Hard to place an age on it - it's ironstone, a punch bowl, so possibly very early Victorian?  Inspired by Imari ware, it features underglaze cobalt blue and overglaze enamels in vibrant colours such as red, green, and yellow.  While some pieces include gold or silver gilding, these are not considered part of the traditional Gaudy Welsh palette.
 
Our footed bowl has been generously planted up a lush zonal white geranium which will continue to flourish throughout the summer and winter if kept a warm place, flowering again next season. We include detailed growing & care instructions so your plants should flourish.
