Mid-century Italian 1960’s majolica asparagus bowl made by Mancioli & Co., a prominent ceramics factory founded in 1946 in Montelupo Fiorentino near Florence, Italy. Famous for retro tableware, figural tureens, and hand-painted majolica, Mancer pieces were widely exported via distributors like Raymor and Ceramar during the 1950s and 1960s. 
 
This bowl just screams summer in Italy with visions of Sophia Loren hosting lunch in Capri underneath the vines with lots of antipasta and fresh seafood along with flagons of Pinot Grigio!
What we love about this bowl is that it can used for so many different uses from piling up lemons to salads to pasta.
 
Planted generously with flowering origanum - that essential herb for Italian cooking - which is easy to grow indoors on a kitchen window and as long as it is cut regulalry, should thrive right throught summer into early winter at least.  We always enclose clear & detailed care instructions along with the provenance of the bowl and if this is a gift for someone special we'll also throw in some printed recipes and ideas with how to present and decorate with this lovely bowl!
