An exceptional Minton fine bone china footed soup tureen or presentation bowl, in the "Emperor's Garden" pattern. Produced by Mintons Ltd. in Stoke-on-Trent, between 1891 and 1902. The pattern is a gorgeous example of late 19th-century European Chinoiserie, very much a Western interpretation of traditional Chinese Famille Rose export porcelain. It features meticulously hand-enamelled, brightly coloured exotic birds perched on gnarled branches amidst blooming peonies, prunus blossoms, and bamboo trees. What is standout are the heavy, rich geometric diaper-work border running along the inner and outer rims and the famous heavily ornate and gilded Minton  handles. 
 
The bowl is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks and the gilt and enamelling in excellent order. Planted up in a very camp and full-blown blowsy way with Begonia 'Du Borias' which would make the most glorious gift for someone special instead of a bowl of flowers!
 
Thebegonia are planted in an inner pot with our proprietary compost mix and will flower for weeks and when they have finished flowering can then be planted into the garden.
